Timucua is a cultural treasure in Orlando, FL, where art thrives in every detail. With an aesthetic reminiscent of an old chapel, this remarkable space was thoughtfully restored by a dedicated couple and transformed into a haven for artistic expression. It retains a warm, intimate atmosphere that makes every event feel deeply personal and truly unforgettable.
The Fusion of Art and Music
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was already filling with creativity and excitement. On stage, a local portrait artist was painting live on canvas while attendees arrived and immersed themselves in the energy of the place. The connection between visual art and music began to weave organically, setting the stage for what was to come.

As the night progressed, the musicians took the stage, and the magic began to flow. The portrait artist continued bringing her artwork to life while the notes of jazz filled every corner of the space. What struck me the most was the connection between the musicians—how they communicated without words, letting their instruments be the language that united them. Jazz, with its essence of improvisation, manifested in every beat, allowing each member to shine in their own style while creating a unique and unrepeatable musical experience. As part of the show, the incredible guest singer, Charlyce Simmons, added even more emotion with her voice, elevating the performance to another level.

To capture this essence, I decided to experiment with the double exposure technique in some shots. I wanted to convey the complicity and movement of the musicians, reflect the event’s vibrant atmosphere, and portray the fusion of sound and emotion in a single image. This technique requires a particular approach: it’s not just about finding the right composition, lighting, and moment, but also about thinking how two images can complement each other to tell a deeper story. Double exposure allowed me to overlay moments, capture the energy of jazz, and represent the synergy between the artists in a unique way.
